Royal Ranger Pledge
With God's help, I will do my best to serve God, my Church, and my fellow man. To live by the Ranger Code, to make the Golden Rule my daily rule.
Royal Ranger Motto
"READY" - Ready for anything; ready to work, play, serve, obey, worship, live, etc.
The Golden Rule
"Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." Matt. 7:12
Royal Rangers was founded in 1962 by the General Council of the Assemblies of God to help boys stay active in the church and to give them solid mental, physical, social and spiritual training. We believe that Christian values are essential in preparing a boy to become a productive citizen, husband, employee or even church member and quite often a commander can serve as a mentor to fatherless boys who need an adult male to influence their lives. Our present culture is full of enticements and snares targeting our boys and resulting in catastrophic social as well as spiritual consequences. The desire of Royal Rangers is to change lives and attitudes before they fall prey to pier pressure.
The Royal Rangers have commonly been compared to the Boy Scouts and for these reasons: the Rangers use the same camping, hiking, canoeing and outdoor interests as a tool to reach boys and to challenge them. Rangers and Boy Scouts use common methods, however there is quite a difference in the goals the two groups seek to obtain.
The goal of the Ranger ministry is to offer the child spiritual hope and value through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We feel that every possible avenue life has to offer begins with Christ. A boy saved by faith in Jesus Christ is, by far, a greater asset to his family, church and community.
NCA offers the Royal Ranger Ministry to three age groups:
Ranger Kids K, 1, and 2
Discovery Rangers grades 3, 4, and 5.
Adventure Rangers grades 6, 7, and 8. (coming soon)
Expedition Rangers grades 9-12 (coming soon)
Besides the weekly meeting where crafts, skills, biblical training and outdoor activities are taught, the ministry offers a calendar full of events such as camping, canoe trips, backpacking, pinewood derby, bicycle rodeo, day hikes, fishing, District Pow Wow, District Jamboree, Sectional Round-Up, Divisional Day Camp and much more.
Each adult leader, called Commanders, has completed over 80 hours of Leadership Training and some have attended additional National Training Camps to further their knowledge of working with boys. All of our Commanders are also graduates of Evangelism Explosion.
